Who we are
HTuse develops Scholumi, an independent scholarship-preparation app for students in India. This policy covers the app and scholumi.htuse.com. We are not a government service, scholarship provider or application processor. Contact us at support@htuse.com.
Information stored on your device
The app stores saved scholarship guides, checklist progress, conditional-item choices, the active checklist, language preference, personal reminder dates and delivery status, and your optional advertising choice. These are stored in the app’s private local storage. The app does not send this preparation data to HTuse.
The name-comparison tool processes the text you enter in memory on your device. Scholumi does not intentionally save or transmit that text. Your chosen keyboard or operating system may have its own data practices. The separate document-review feature lets you optionally select image or PDF files. They may contain personal or sensitive information, such as identity-document contents. You choose what to import; HTuse does not receive these documents. Do not type Aadhaar or bank account numbers, passwords or OTPs into the review fields.
Fictional practice example
The optional sample review uses invented details in memory. It does not import a file or write a sample into your saved preparation. Leaving the sample resets it. Corrections and comparisons in the real document review remain on your device.
Documents and text recognition
Imported copies, extracted text, document labels, confirmed fields and review-run fingerprints/times are stored locally with AES-GCM encryption using a key held by Android Keystore. Document filenames are not retained. Text is extracted with bundled English/Latin and Devanagari Google ML Kit models, and you must confirm the entered fields before they are compared. Images and recognized text are not sent to Google by these recognition APIs or by Scholumi. Reports identify potential issues; they do not authenticate documents or establish eligibility.
Google ML Kit separately collects SDK metrics, including device model/OS and accelerator information, app version/package, per-installation identifiers, performance, API configuration and input/output sizes. Google uses these for diagnostics, usage analytics and API maintenance. This processing can occur when advertising is off. Google documents HTTPS transport and no third-party sharing for this SDK data. See ML Kit privacy terms and ML Kit data disclosure.
PDF rendering uses a temporary working copy in app-private, non-backed-up storage. It is deleted when rendering finishes; interrupted working copies are removed when the app next starts. Saved originals and extracted records remain encrypted. Document-review screens block ordinary screenshots and recent-app previews. Device security, keyboards and accessibility services have their own practices. Uninstalling or losing the device key can make local reviews unrecoverable; we do not offer a cloud copy.
When you choose “Read myself” before adding a copy, Scholumi validates the image/PDF and keeps it available for viewing without running text recognition for that import. You enter and confirm the fields yourself. This supports manual review of regional scripts and handwriting; it does not add automatic recognition for those scripts.
Catalog downloads and this website
The app checks for public scholarship-catalog updates on our website, normally at most once per day when the app is opened, and when you tap refresh. These requests do not include your checklist, name or a Scholumi account identifier. Like other web traffic, they expose your IP address, request time, requested URL and basic browser or app information to our hosting provider, Hostinger. Server logs may be used to operate and protect the service. The website does not set application cookies, run advertising or use analytics scripts.
Hostinger controls its infrastructure and log-retention settings; we have not enabled a separate visitor-analytics database. Read Hostinger’s privacy policy for its practices. Contact us with any questions about website request data.
Optional advertising in this preview
Advertising is off by default. The preview offers an explicit “I’m 18 or older” choice to enable Google test advertising. Students under 18 should leave advertising off. The advertising choice does not use your document fields or date of birth to verify age. Scholumi does not run an account-based age-verification service. The same preparation tools remain available with advertising off.
After an adult chooses to enable test ads, Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) checks applicable consent requirements. An ad can be requested only when that check permits it. A failed check prevents the ad request. Where required, privacy options are available in the app. This build uses Google’s sample ad identifiers and requests non-personalized test banner ads; these are not revenue-generating ads. Non-personalized advertising can still process data.
Google’s Mobile Ads SDK may collect and share IP addresses (which can indicate approximate location), device or account identifiers including the Android advertising ID where available, ad and product interactions, and diagnostic information such as crash and performance data. Google uses this information for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention. UMP may process consent choices and device/request information to determine and record applicable privacy choices. This processing is separate from your locally stored scholarship checklist.

Reminders and permissions
Notifications are optional. If you allow them, Android can show a generic preparation reminder and open the corresponding checklist. Reminder notification text does not include scheme names, eligibility details or documents. Delivery is approximate and depends on Android’s background and battery restrictions. The app stores the last delivery-attempt time locally; “posted” means a notification was sent to Android, not that you read it. The app uses internet access for catalog updates, Google ML Kit SDK services and, if enabled, advertising/consent services. The system file picker grants access only to files you choose; Scholumi does not request broad storage, camera, contacts or precise-location permissions.
Your controls and retention
You can change checklist items, remove bookmarks, cancel reminders and switch advertising off in the app. You can remove an imported document and its extracted fields individually. “Delete local data” removes the encrypted document copies and review records, deletes the document-encryption key, removes preparation data and ad-enable choice, and cancels reminders. Original files you selected outside Scholumi are unchanged. The downloaded public catalog and Google’s separately managed consent storage are not deleted by that action. Android’s “Clear storage” or uninstall removes app-local data; the app does not opt into cloud backup for preparation data. A local reset does not delete data already received by Google or Hostinger.
Where applicable, use the app’s Google privacy-options link to update consent. You can also manage your advertising ID in Android settings. Turning advertising off stops further app-initiated ad requests. Data already received by service providers is retained under their policies. You may contact us to request access, correction or deletion of information under our control, subject to applicable law. Because there is no Scholumi account, we cannot remotely recover your local checklist.
“You → Manage saved documents” also lets you remove one preparation’s saved copies, entered fields and review history together, including an earlier review whose guide is no longer in the catalog. Its checklist and reminder, other reviews and original files remain. Private review, saved-document management and name-comparison screens block ordinary screenshots and recent-app previews.
Children and students
The preview is intended for students aged 13 and older, including senior-secondary and college students. Optional advertising is offered only to people who confirm they are 18 or older. Document review is optional and processed locally, including for students under 18. We do not ask students to send identity documents to HTuse, and document fields are never used for advertising. A parent or guardian who believes personal information was sent to us can contact support for help.
Support and external links
The optional “Report a problem” screen keeps your unsent draft in memory while you use it. It includes only your typed answers, the app version, Android API version and selected app language, all shown before sharing. It does not attach documents, screenshots, device identifiers or logs. Leaving the screen discards the draft; Android closing the app can also remove it. “Open email app” passes that visible draft to your email app, where you can edit, cancel or choose to send it. Scholumi does not send the email or know whether you sent it. “Copy draft” puts the text on your system clipboard. Copies in other apps or the clipboard are not removed by deleting Scholumi data.
If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you choose to include. We use it to answer your request and keep it only as needed to handle support and related obligations. Do not send Aadhaar, bank details or other sensitive documents. Your email app and provider have their own policies. Official scholarship portals and other external sites have their own policies. Opening them takes you outside Scholumi.
Security and policy changes
Catalog traffic uses HTTPS, and the app validates downloaded content before accepting it. No service can promise absolute security. We will update this page when the app’s data practices change and revise the effective date. Material changes, including production advertising, will also be reflected in the app and its store disclosures.
